In 1997, Dr. Lisa Cohen founded Cohen Dermatopathology, seeking to establish a new standard in dermatologic care. As a practicing dermatopathologist, with board certification in both dermatology and dermatopathology, she had always offered her fellow physicians precise diagnoses that were enhanced by her understanding of the outward manifestations of skin disorders and diseases. In starting Cohen Dermatopathology, she continued offering that crucial clinicopathological correlation, but coupled it with exceptional service that addressed the unique needs of every clinician.

Word spread about Cohen Dermatopathology’s dedication to clients, and the business and geographic reach steadily grew. Through the years, Lisa Cohen established a rewarding partnership with Lisa Lerner, opened an office, built a state-of-the-art laboratory, and assembled a top-notch diagnostic team. In ten years, Cohen Dermatopathology developed from a small operation run out of Lisa Cohen’s home into a busy company with over 50 employees and nearly 300 clients.

In June 2007, Caris Cohen Dx was born from a merger between Cohen Dermatopathology and Caris Diagnostics, the leading provider of pathology services to GI physicians. Although Caris Dx had focused on the GI market nationally and Cohen Dermatopathology focused on dermatology in the Northeast, the two companies possessed identical core values: quality is at the forefront of all that they pursue and outstanding patient care is of paramount importance.

This new partnership allows Lisa Cohen and Lisa Lerner to draw upon Caris Dx’s extensive resources and offer their clients enhanced services, especially in the area of technology and connectivity.
